About the practice

Conditions, locations and consultations

Q: What conditions does Dr. Sujeeth treat?

A: Dr. Sujeeth Kumar Bashetty is a laparoscopic and robotic surgeon in Hyderabad with 20+ years of surgical experience and over 10,000 surgeries. He treats hernias of all types, gallbladder stones and gallbladder disease, appendicitis, thyroid conditions, colorectal and other gastrointestinal surgical conditions, and performs bariatric (weight-loss) surgery. Wherever appropriate, he uses minimally invasive laparoscopic or robotic techniques.

Q: Where does Dr. Sujeeth consult, and where are surgeries done?

A: Consultations (new and follow-up) are at Dr. Sujeeth’s Healthcare Clinic, Manikonda — 284, Shaikpet Main Road, OU Colony, Manikonda, Hyderabad 500089. Surgeries and emergency admissions are at Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills. Book online at drsujeeth.com/appointments or call 099630 09090.

Q: Does Dr. Sujeeth offer second opinions before surgery?

A: Yes. If you have been advised surgery for a hernia, gallbladder, thyroid, colorectal or other gastrointestinal condition, you are welcome to bring your reports for a second opinion. He will explain whether surgery is needed, the options available, and what to expect.

Q: When should I see a surgeon for abdominal problems?

A: See a surgeon if you have a visible lump or bulge in the abdomen or groin (possible hernia), diagnosed gallstones with pain after meals, recurrent or severe abdominal pain, or if your physician or gastroenterologist has advised surgical evaluation. Sudden severe pain with fever or vomiting is an emergency — go to the nearest emergency room.

Surgery & recovery

Laparoscopic and robotic surgery

Q: What is the difference between laparoscopic and robotic surgery?

A: Both are minimally invasive — small incisions instead of a large cut, so less pain and quicker recovery. In laparoscopic surgery the surgeon operates with a camera and long instruments directly. In robotic surgery the surgeon controls the instruments from a console, with 3D magnified vision and more precise, wristed movement, which helps in complex procedures. Dr. Sujeeth is trained in both (FIAGES, FALS, DIPMAS and FICRS fellowships) and recommends whichever suits your condition.

Q: How long is recovery after gallbladder or hernia surgery?

A: With laparoscopic or robotic surgery, most patients are up and walking the same day and have a short hospital stay. Return to routine activity is usually within one to two weeks, depending on the procedure and your overall health. Every patient receives a personalised recovery plan, including a pre-surgery preparation (“prehabilitation”) checklist — see 7 things to do before surgery.

Q: What are Dr. Sujeeth’s qualifications and experience?

A: MBBS, MS (General Surgery), FIAGES (minimal access surgery), FAIS, FALS (advanced laparoscopic colorectal surgery), DIPMAS (minimal access hernia surgery), and FICRS (robotic surgery). He has practised surgery for 20+ years and has been a Senior Consultant at Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills, for around a decade. Telangana State Medical Council registration: TSMC61440. Named among India Today’s Top 7 Surgeons in South India 2022. Full details on the qualifications page.
